Good steering is all part of good car control. I met Jensen Button a few years ago and had a chance to speak to him for about 20 minutes and see him in his own car. Think it was an Aston Martin! I didn't see him driving with his seat to the floor and his right wrist on top of the steering wheel peering over the dash. Hmm..wonder why?
The answer is not that he is one of the best drivers in the world and that if he chooses to he could steer like that. The answer is, it's because he is one of the best drivers in the world that he doesn't choose to steer like that.
Now for me I don't really mind how anyone chooses to be seated or hold the wheel it's their personal choice, it's their life. The problem is that usually it's not until after an accident happens that drivers change their behaviour. By then it might be too late for them and their mates or girlfriend.
So want to know what one of those accidents looks like? Watch this vid below:
The INCORRECT way | Want a reason? | Professional Steering |
Now I am sure you don't want to look like and drive like an idiot? Or think that "I am a skilful driver and it will never happen to me so I'll look and drive like I want to." The risk of an accident with this type of driver massively increases for them and their passengers. Drivers who drive like this just add to the fatal accident statistics and cause heartbreak in their families and the families of their passengers and the passengers in the other vehicles they hit.
So you can choose to drive like this. Or you can choose to drive like a pro. I know which I chose when I was 17 and hey guess what I am still here today!
